Wai-iti Mid

3.2% ABV

This lager won a Gold Medal at the 2015 Brewers Guild Awards and a Bronze medal this year.

Brewed with a trio of hops, this 3.2% lager is light and refreshing. 'Bigger' beers naturally have more body, but it’s a little known fact that lower-alcohol beers can be harder to brew so Tracy was really put to the test on this one! Wai-iti hops have been used for the first time in our brewing process and were used as our main hop addition as it gives the beer a zesty blend of citrus characteristics.

Wai-iti Lager
Brewmasters comments

We decided to brew a mid-strength lager following the lowering of the legal limit for blood alcohol in December 2014. Brewing a flavoursome beer with good body and balance, but with lower alcohol content is not easy, and so the team put me up to the challenge.

I'd heard about this relatively new hop with stonefruit properties called Wai-iti and was keen to give it a go, so with Pilsner and Crystal malts and a good amount of Wai-iti hops, Wai-iti Lager was born.

Wai-iti Lager started its life as a Limited Release, but after it won a Gold medal at the Brewers Guild of NZ awards in 2015, we brought it into our core range so you can enjoy it all year round.
