This lager won a Gold Medal at the 2015 Brewers Guild Awards and a Bronze medal this year.
Brewed with a trio of hops, this 3.2% lager is light and refreshing. 'Bigger' beers naturally have more body, but it’s a little known fact that lower-alcohol beers can be harder to brew so Tracy was really put to the test on this one! Wai-iti hops have been used for the first time in our brewing process and were used as our main hop addition as it gives the beer a zesty blend of citrus characteristics.
We decided to brew a mid-strength lager following the lowering of the legal limit for blood alcohol in December 2014. Brewing a flavoursome beer with good body and balance, but with lower alcohol content is not easy, and so the team put me up to the challenge.
Wai-iti Lager started its life as a Limited Release, but after it won a Gold medal at the Brewers Guild of NZ awards in 2015, we brought it into our core range so you can enjoy it all year round.
Brewed with a trio of hops, Wai-iti Lager is light and refreshing, with good body and balance. Wai-iti hops have been used as the main hop addition to give the beer a zesty blend of citrus and stonefruit characteristics. Enjoy at 2-4ºC.
Wai-iti Lager is made with only natural ingredients: three hops, two malts, water and yeast. It contains no additives.

Brewed as an English Best Bitter style, the combination of five malts gives Sprig & Fern's British Best the ideal balance of malt sweetness. The addition of Crystal and Caramalt provides well rounded toffee and biscuit characteristics.
