Winter is upon us, and the Sprig and Fern is making it a bit more beer-able with Black Beer Month. Taking place between July 13 and August 9, Black Beer Month is a celebration of all things dark, malty, toasted and velvet smooth and features three brand new, limited release black beers. Alongside the existing Fern Dark and Porter, there’s a new Black Tyre Stout, a Raspberry infused Stout and a Black IPA.
Over the course of the month, try all five black beers and you can enter to win a Black Beer Month prize pack. There’s one prize pack to be won in each of the 9 Sprig and Fern Taverns.
Winter does not have to be long, cold and dreary - take refuge at your nearest Tavern, warm yourself by the fire and enjoy some beautiful black beer.
BLACK TYRE STOUT 4.2%
A traditional Milk Stout, also known as a Cream or Sweet Stout. Speciality roasted malts and the addition of lactose makes this pleasantly creamy and full flavoured with lighter carbonation.
RASPBERRY INFUSED STOUT 4.2%
Our cream stout has been infused with raspberries. The tartness of the raspberry is a good foil to the sweetness of the stout. Roasted, smooth and fruity.
BLACK I.P.A. 6.0%
This is an evolving beer style that lacks the roastiness of a stout but is hoppier than a porter. This beer was dry hopped with an abundance of American hops giving a big hop aroma and flavour.
FERN DARK 4.0%
Almost black in colour, Fern Dark displays chocolate, coffee and caramel in both the aroma and flavour, yet remains moderately light in the body with softer flavour. An easy drinking dark.
Hints of chocolate and coffee abound in the medium bodied Brown Porter style. A bronze medal winner at the Australian International Beer Awards in May 2015.
